September 25, 2002 Gene Vincent and my new Fender Strat! Alright, so here I am up in the woods, battered but not bruised, well a little bruised. I wake each morning grab my cup of peppermint tea and head into "the music room." I am dedicating most of my time to recording new songs. Fall and winter with all their inward qualities seem to be dictating songwriting in Mc Cloud. Perhaps I will look back at this time with less loneliness and much more humor. It is isolated but I believe even Manhattan dwellers can feel isolated. I am buying the Roland 1824 digital studio. Purchased a Fender Strat and Fender Deluxe Reverb Amp. I am going electric just like Bob Dylan. I will be learning some surf stuff this winter from Frank and getting drum lessons from Shaun. I am so excited about going electric I love the sustain of an electric guitar. Sounds wonderful and that whammy bar... really a super treat. I can do all the Jimmy Wilsey licks all on my own now! I have been sitting with Merle Haggard's greatest hits and Early Sun Session Elvis learning all the licks; will venture soon into Gene Vincent land! I have met some nice people in the Oregon area where I will be buying my 1824, the guitar repair guy Steve at Guitar Center and Eric Alan at JPR (Jefferson Public Radio). They are playing my tunes everyday and people are requesting the CD at local music stores... more music support here than the Bay Area. I am putting together a Songwriters In The Round show at The Lodge in Mc Cloud, looking at a late October date. I will post the date on my website as soon as it is confirmed. |
