November 22, 2005 The Hit Parade Already Thanksgiving. Wonderful weather for late fall. All songs for “Paper Hats...” are nearly complete and the arduous task of recording them begins. I have ensconced myself in the studio and have procured many a treasure on my beloved eBay just to make the recording sessions sparkle. I am now the proud owner of a 1950s child's Zellophone, a Musette and many many other odd and exciting toy instruments dating from the 1930s to the 1960s. I love the sound those toys make and with a bit of effects it is positively creepy at times. There should be 12 songs on this CD unless we get generous and have time to spare then I am guessing 14 will arrive. I am thrilled to be working with one of my all time favorite players and producers. I have great confidence that this will be some of the coolest, moodiest (is that a word), meloncolic (that sounds like a stomach disorder) record yet. Please do not expect any happy-go-lucky tunes as that is not really my bag, dig? all right we'll throw one in for fun. Till next time hope you all have a tolerable holiday season. I am already thinking about summer and swimming up at the lake. See you ' round campus, NDR |
