howdy kiddies - October 6th 2004

fall is approaching here in the mountains. What a wonderful summer it was. Really the best in years. i was able to go craw dad hunting, clean a steer hide (although it's more like i watched geraldine clean a steer hide) went to the oregon coast and visited my dear friend walter in bandon. camped at harris beach in brookings, oregon. listened to four wheelers zoom by our campsite and found another camp site for the second night, swam in wonderful pools of cascading water up kidder creek, participated in fantastic musical events such as the infamous callahan three on three, sang on stage with johnny callahan and dave theno two of my favorite performers here in siskiyou county, appointed to the grand jury. wrote some of my best material yet and performed as an actress for an original murder mystery on the sunset dinner train in mc cloud, ca. i also learned how to gold pan which is a lot of work and i mean a lot of work!

MY BEST GIRLFRIEND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER WHICH TOOK THE WIND OUT OF EVERYONE'S SAILS BUT WE ARE GETTING THRU IT. SHE IS NOT ALONE. SMALL COMMUNITIES PROVIDE WONDERFUL SUPPORT IN TIMES OF NEED.

NOW ONTO MUSIC NEWS:

I AM FINISHING UP SONGS FOR MY SECOND CD. HAS NO TITLE YET BUT THE SONG LIST INCLUDES:

THAT'S THE LIST SO FAR. LOOKS LIKE WE ARE GOING TO DO A GUITAR/VOCAL RECORD. THIS TOOK A LOT OF THOUGHT ON OUR PART. SINCE I PRIMARILY PERFORM AS A SOLO ACT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE GOOD TO MAKE A RECORD THAT BEST REPRESENTS WHAT I DO LIVE. IT WILL BE MORE DIFFICULT TO GET RADIO AIRPLAY BUT IT'S ODD MY TUNES THAT HAVE GOTTEN THE MOST RADIO PLAY ARE GUITAR/VOCAL TRACKS. LONESOME SKY AND SESAME STREET ARE JPR FAVORITES. SO MAYBE THERE IS A MARKET FOR THIS? MY FRIEND CLIVE SAYS “MAKE THE RECORD YOU WANT TO MAKE NOT WHAT YOU THINK THE INDUSTRY WANTS TO HEAR.” I HAVE GOTTEN TO THE POINT IN MY CAREER WHERE MAKING THE RECORD I WANT TO MAKE IS EXACTLY WHAT I AM GOING TO DO.

WE ARE THEN MAKING PLANS TO DESCEND ON NASHVILLE, TN SPRING OF 2005. WE HAVE RECEIVED WARM WELCOMES FROM THE BLUEBIRD CAFE AND OTHER WONDERFUL VENUES. THE TOWN HAS AN OPEN ARM POLICY. GREAT TOWN!

we march forward into new territory in relationships. what they are, what they mean, how to keep them functioning and relatively happy. you know i love you...but!

Relationships are tricky things. they say if you put mary, Joseph and Jesus in a room together there will be an argument within 5 minutes. i thought that was classic and is so true. we beat ourselves up over relationships. at least i do. in most areas of my life i maintain great sweeping confidence but men... wow what a trigger spot.

let's do a survey. how many people out there reading this are currently or have ever been in a healthy, successful, respectful long term relationship that did not end in divorce?
